Commissions

Stained glass can be used to enhance any environment, bringing intense colour and light to your living or work space. Today architectural Stained Glass is also being used in many public buildings.

The Commission Process

First Stage

Is to establish the size of panel needed, by taking eight measurements of the frame in which the panel is to be fitted. (This is not necessary for free hanging panels.) We take eight measurements because many windows are not square; which allows us to create an exact pattern of the window.

Second Stage

When a client enquires about having a panel made, the second stage is to establish the position of the window and what is directly beyond it, for instance does it get direct sun or is it always in the shade; these are factors that need to be considered as this may affect the glass used to create the desired effect.

Third Stage

We discuss the design with the client to establish all of their requirements before we start the next stage of the process; pattern making.

Fourth Stage

A cartoon (pattern) of the design is produced and shown to the client, and once they have agreed the design, glass samples are used to help clients choose the colours and textures to be used in their panel.

Deep, rich colours and textured glass may be needed to create a panel that allows light through but obscures the view, whereas the presence of a stained glass panel incorporating clear textured glass or paler colours maybe used to create a panel that will both compliment and enrich the view.

Fifth Stage

We ask you for a 50% deposit so that we can start work

Sixth Stage

The panel is then constructed in the studio.

Seventh Stage

Our clients get to enjoy their Stained Glass for many, many years to come.
